2020 will hopefully end with a whimper, not a bang, then we can all move on to 2021. With The Game Awards behind us and a year of things being postponed, we’re more ready than ever for all the brilliant games that’ll come out over the coming twelve months.
We’ve taken a peek into the future (via dark magics) and come back with what we think are the best upcoming PC games of 2021. Let’s go!
The Hitman series has had a resounding comeback since 2016, and Hitman 3 looks to continue with another finely crafted entry in the longrunning murder-em-up series. Hitman 3 seems to be what we want from a Hitman franchise, more levels, more ways to exploit systems, and more Heath Robinson-esque murder in what we’re confidence will be one of the best games of 2021.
In the gaming world it’s probably fair to say there’s never been a run like the one Arkane’s on. The Dishonored series, Prey, Dark Messiah, and even Arx Fatalis show a studio that absolutely loves exploring systems. Deathloop is ready to take that to the next level, in a time-looping hunt across a pulpy seventies-style island. We can’t wait.
Kerbal Space Program 2
The original Kerbal Space Program taught us about physics, managing space programs, and budgets. Now we’re going even further into space with Kerbal Space Program 2, a game which promises to expand on everything that made the original a staple on so many PC gamers hard drives. That’s why this is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2021.
Amplitude Studios have a history of making brilliant strategy games and Humankind looks to be their most ambitious game yet. In it you’ll decide the fate of humanity over the course of our entire existence in a game spanning aeons. See if you can fix the world – or make it worse! It’s your choice.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series has captivated gamers right from the start with its evocative Chernobyl world filled with alien creatures and mysteries that bend space and time. In Stalker 2 we’ll get to explore it with more fidelity and depth than ever before, and it’s for that reason alone that makes it one of the most exciting games we’re looking forward to in 2021.
Resident Evil Village
With Resident Evil VII and the 2 and 3 remakes, Resident Evil is back in a big way. Now the eighth main entry in the series is coming and we’re heading to more snowy climes. Following on after a few years from the end of VII, Village will play similarly in a first person perspective. We can’t wait to see what this next game has for us in the long running and ever-surprising series.
That’s what we think will be the absolute highlights of 2021 in terms of PC games, though of course we’re prepared to be surprised as there’s always something that arrives unannounced. What are you looking forward to in 2021? Head over to our community forum and let us know.
